Shiva and Jewish Mourning

Plant Trees and Donate in Memory of Loved Ones

What is Shiva? In Jewish tradition, Shiva is a 7-day period of mourning for a close relative (spouse, child, parent, or sibling), immediately following the funeral. Shiva is intended to comfort the mourners, and can vary depending on a family's level of religious observance.

Friends, family, and members of the community visit the mourners during Shiva to provide support.

Honoring loved ones after their death is a meaningful way to provide comfort. Jewish National Fund offers many ways to send love, comfort, and meaning in memory of the deceased.
